A unique example of a building that combines the work of two of America’s most distinguished and influential architects: Stanford White and John Russell Pope, the Mansion epitomizes nineteenth-century Golden Age elegance and grandeur when the very wealthy lavished untold wealth on building homes which they considered suitable for living and entertaining.

In 1962 The Engineers Club purchased it and began a dedicated effort to preserve and maintain the historic structure. In 1971, the Mansion’s significance was officially recognized by the Maryland Historic Trust.
