According to Irish history….. blue has been symbolic of Ireland. Saint Patrick is said to have used the shamrock. The plant’s three-leaves, explains the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish. So, Ireland wore the
green ribbons and shamrocks in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day as early as the 17th century.
