Reporting Diane Lyn
Stevie Nicks fans have followed her life since we first heard “Rhiannon”. I thought when I first heard that song on the radio, who was this woman, named Stevie, singing about? A Welsh witch of course. The fascination of Nicks’ mystical side has had most of us drawn in for years. Stevie, the private person, with a very public life, as long protected the ‘behind the scenes” of her rock career. But now that could all change. Since 2007, she has been toying with a movie, a biopic about Stevie Nicks. The 64-year-old member of Fleetwood Mac, has warmed up to the idea of making a film based on her early life.
Nicks entertains the thought of herself on the big screen. So who will play Stevie Nicks? Lindsay Lohan volunteered a few years ago. Nicks, at one point said a film starring Lohan would be made “over my dead body.” Reese Witherspoon was brought up as the lead. Nicks and the 37-year-old Witherspoon have chatted about it several times, the more they talk, the more it becomes a bad idea. Nicks “I’ve already told [Reese] she’s almost too old,” according to an ET Canada interview at the Toronto premiere of her documentary “In Your Dreams”.
“I love her, but she’s like, ‘I could play your mother.’ I’m like ‘O.K.,’” Nicks said, with Witherspoon in agreement.
We the fans of Stevie Nicks will wait patiently for a movie about our rock idol. In the meantime, maybe Stevie could release parts and pieces of that journal she’s been keeping forever on her rock and roll life!
