History comes alive during the Green Mount Cemetery Walking Tours. This is one of the best tours I have ever been on.
Baltimore historian and educator Wayne Schaumburg leads four guided tours of historic Green Mount Cemetery on Saturday, May 8, 15, 22, and 29. Wayne is an awesome storyteller and makes this 2 hour tour one of the most fascinating and entertaining I’ve ever been on! Walking through the cemetery itself is like walking through an art gallery.
Green Mount is the final resting place of Johns Hopkins, Enoch Pratt, William and Henry Walters, Mary Elizabeth Garrett, Theodore McKeldin, John Wilkes Booth, Betsy Patterson, Walter Lord, and other famous Marylanders. Tours begin at 9:30 a.m. from the main gate located at Greenmount Avenue and East Oliver Street.
I can’t say enough good things about this tour~ I’ve been on it 3 times! These tours fill up fast and reservations are required. For more information check out Wayne’s website: http://home.earthlink.net/~wschaumburg/
